ST. EUSTATIUS SABA

Statia is a very small island, and it's very laid back and quiet. The island has considerable charm of its own, assuming you can slow down and appreciate what surrounds you. Although it is a Dutch island, everyone speaks English. 

'The Caribbean's Hidden Treasure' – the tourism slogan of tiny Sint Eustatius (Statia) is especially apt. The jewels of this castaway-style outpost lie under the sea: dazzling reefs, teeming marine life, rusting wrecks and vestiges of the Lower Town – part of the capital (and only town), Oranjestad – which is now largely submerged. Today, Statia's few visitors are intrepid scuba divers, and hikers exploring its rugged, volcanic terrain. So if you're one of those, and more, it's time to head onto Statia!
